P.A.A.G. ANNOUNCES THE AMENDMENT OF ITS POLICIES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL P.A.A.G. CHAPTERS

7/3/2006 - Canoga Park, California – The Patient Advisory and Advocacy Group (“P.A.A.G.”), in partnership with Aegis Medical Systems, Inc. and Aegis Institute, Inc., is proud to announce the amendment of its policies to allow for the development of a local P.A.A.G. chapter in every one of the 26 Aegis clinics.

Steve Day, P.A.A.G. Chairperson, stated, “We believe the local P.A.A.G. chapters will greatly benefit staff members as well as patients, providing them with a better understanding and strengthened communications among themselves.” He further added, “Most importantly, it provides patients with better insight into the policy and decision-making process of the doctors, clinic managers, counselors and other staff members, thus giving them greater involvement into their own recovery.”

Steve Maulhardt, Vice President, stated, “The local P.A.A.G. chapters and their members could greatly assist in advocacy for patient rights and the fight against discrimination. Furthermore, I hope the local chapters follow the footsteps of the P.A.A.G. board members who play a critical role in the legislative work that Aegis is engaging in. In the last eight years, Aegis has supported legislation which is focusing on patient rights and defending recovering addicts from discrimination (e.g., California Prop 36/SACPA), as well as on raising clinical and patient care standards (e.g., accreditation, licensure, change of scope of practice, etc.).”
