AEGIS SIGNS INTERNSHIP AND TRAINING AGREEMENT WITH PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY

3/21/2007 - Canoga Park, California - Arron Hightower, Director of Clinical Services, is proud to announce the initiation of an Internship and Training Program between Pepperdine University, Aegis Medical Systems, Inc and its non-profit affiliate Aegis Institute, Inc. The agreement with Pepperdine University is the most recent of collaboration that Aegis has established with leading academic institutions, which include: UCLA, USC, Cal State Chico, Fresno and Bakersfield, National University.

By this agreement, Pepperdine University graduate students of Marriage and Family Therapy who are seeking licensing through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, will be working in supervised Aegis clinics in West Los Angeles, Oxnard, Simi Valley and Santa Paula.

Jon Pease, graduate student in the Pepperdine Program for Marriage and Family Therapy and who recently joined Aegis stated, “My work in Aegis allows me access to the most up to date addiction research available. More importantly, it allows me hands on clinical experience and training on various mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.”

Arron Hightower added "Aegis offers real-world experience with seasoned experts in the field of addiction medicine. Opportunities like the ones we provide to students to practice their specialized area of discipline are invaluable and rare."

Udi Barkai, President & C.E.O., stated, “The assistance of highly educated individuals to our patients is critical to their successful recovery, especially as it relates to their mental, emotional and behavioral co-occurring conditions.” He further stated, “In addition to their recovery related obstacles, the majority of our patients are struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), social anxiety, ADD / ADHD, grief and loss, and other conditions that require treatment. Pepperdine University has a strong curriculum that prepares its graduate students to deal effectively with our patients specialized needs"
