2/19/2007 - Canoga, Park, California - Steve Maulhardt, Aegis’ Vice President for Government Relations and Legislative Work, was pleased to report to the Aegis’ department directors in their January management meeting of the extensive schedule of activities that he and other Aegis staff members have maintained through the last quarter of 2006. These activities included:

• On August 31st, Aegis co-sponsored and attended the annual “Recovery Happens” rally at the State Capital marking the beginning of Recovery Month (September). Clinic Managers Linda Ashbaugh (Marysville) and Margaret Cook (Roseville) accompanied by a few clinic staff from Roseville and Marysville clinics and two local PAAG members participated. This 1-day event was attended by several hundreds of people in recovery. Leadership of the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs and many legislators and their staff also participated and spoke.

• Following previous years’ tradition, Aegis co-sponsored the California Parole Probation and Corrections Officers Association (”CPPCA”) annual conference, September 13th through 15th in San Diego. For the first time, the Aegis delegation included two members of Patient Advisory and Advocacy Group (PAAG), Steve D. and Ruben O. who both participated in a presentation given by Steve Maulhardt and Jim Lovelle, Bakersfield Clinic Manager.

• Aegis co-sponsored and attended as a vendor the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs annual educational conference September 6th and 7th in Sacramento. Local clinic staff and one PAAG member greeted participants who visited our booth and provided information about Aegis.

• Aegis participated as a co-sponsor and vendor at the Proposition 36 “Making it Work” annual conference in Burlingame in October 2006. In addition, Mr. Maulhardt and a panel including Dr. Judith Martin, Dr. Mark Stanford, Aegis-Bakersfield manager Jim Lovelle and two patients made two break-out training sessions regarding the efficacy of Methadone treatment and how it should be included in Prop 36 continuum of care to approximately 80 attendees.
