AEGIS ANNOUNCES THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF SIX MONTHS OF ON-SITE SYSTEM-WIDE TRAINING
7/10/2008 - Canoga Park, California, Becky Heinicke, Director of Quality Assurance and Quality Control, is pleased to announce the successful completion of the first round of training of Aegis staff by Mallinckrodt on July 10th, 2008. The training which began in Modesto on January 18th was conducted over a six-month period covered the 1st Mallinckrodt training module, which focused on the development of methadone, and the bio-chemical effects of methadone on the brain. All Aegis staff members participated in the training sessions, including physicians, regional clinical directors, nurses, specialists, caseload managers, and administrative staff. The training was also open to the local medical and clinical community, and many providers and agencies took advantage of this unique opportunity and participated in the training.
Pete Petit, Head of the Training and Audit Unit, stated that, “The investment in the training of our personnel is the most important investment that we make. We believe that our staff members are our main asset, and therefore have dedicated extensive resources towards their professional growth.”

The second round of training is scheduled to begin on July 15th in Hesperia, and be completed on December 10th in Pasadena. The upcoming training will cover the Second and Third Mallinckrodt Training Modules, which focus on clinical risk management in the administration of methadone, and clinical considerations for proper doses of medication.
The training was funded by Aegis Institute (a California non-profit corporation) with a budget of $50,000.
