AEGIS CELEBRATES RECOVERY MONTH WITH A GRANT OF 250 FREE SLOTS FOR THE 21-DAY DETOX PROGRAM

9/30/2008 - Canoga Park, California, In recognition of National Recovery Month, Aegis Institute, Inc. (a California non-profit corporation) has donated $60,000 for the treatment of individuals, who have not previously treated in a Narcotic Treatment Program (“NTP”), through the 21-Day Detox Program. This unique opportunity for free treatment is available through 10 free slots allocated to each of Aegis’ clinics throughout California. The program will be conducted in collaboration with local county government and agencies in the communities that Aegis serves. The program runs until the end of 2008.

The 21-Day Detox Program is intended to be an introductory program that focuses on the removal of cultural barriers, and increasing the accessibility to treatment. It primarily allows patients to overcome their chemical dependency to drugs, and as such it is tailored to addicts with a relatively short history of substance abuse. Patients with a long history of drug abuse will be referred to the Extended Detox and Maintenance Program, where the patients are able to achieve behavioral modifications, and be treated for their co-occurring conditions.

The individuals admitted into the program will undergo Replacement Therapy treatment. As part of their treatment they will also receive counseling, and participate in educational programs and support groups.
