AEGIS COMPLETES ITS PREPARATION FOR THE H1N1 (SWINE FLU) VIRUS

8/31/2009 - Canoga Park, California - Following an announcement from the World Health Organization declaring the H1N1 Virus as a pandemic, Aegis developed a contingency plan and completed preparations for the various possible scenarios and phases of the H1N1 Virus pandemic.

Dr. George Girgis, Chief Medical Director, stated, “Our corporate office coordinated preparations that include: the purchase of preventive gear for Aegis staff members and patients; the upload of patient health information to a central intranet database; the securing of back-up medication inventory; the development of procedures for emergency coverage; as well as the training of staff, and education of patients on prevention and containment.”

Judson Lea, Director of Operations, added that, “Aegis’ clinics are well prepared for even the worst-case scenarios, such as the infection of Aegis patients or staff members that would force the closure of one or more Aegis clinics. The clinics’ plans include special provisions for off-site counseling and caseload management, courtesy dosing in nearby clinics and hospitals, as well as extended take home medication privileges and medical exceptions.”

Becky Heinicke, Director of Q.A. & Q.C., stated, “Within the next few weeks, Aegis intends to submit its H1N1 Contingency Plan and schedule of implementation for the review and approval of the governmental agencies that regulate NTP operations (i.e., SAMHSA / CSAT, DEA, CARF and California ADP).” She further explained, “Some of the measures included in Aegis' H1N1 Contingency Plan will require special waivers and approvals from these regulating bodies.”
