AEGIS INTRODUCES THE NEW PAAG IDENTIFICATION CARD

Canoga Park, California - In its continuing efforts to support patient rights, Aegis is proud to introduce the new Patients Advocacy & Advisory Group (“PAAG”) Identification Card. The PAAG ID card enables patients to quickly communicate their status as a protected class under the ADA, as well as cites the major provisions of laws and regulations, which establish the patients’ constitutional rights.

"Aegis believes that the stigma associated with recovering addicts, and the growing trend of discrimination they face, can be alleviated by the ongoing education of judges, district attorneys, public defenders, parole, probation and police officers," stated Udi Barkai, President & C.E.O.

The card, issued at “no charge” to patients, was co-authored by Stephen Karlton Kop, Esq., Aegis General Counsel, and given final approval by the PAAG board during its most recent quarterly meeting on September 29th, 2004. Below is an excerpt from the PAAG ID Card:

"The holder of this card is disabled and a member of a protected class as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and covered in Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The prescription of treatment and medication can only be changed by the cardholder's treating physician. Any interference with the provision of treatment and medication constitutes a breach of law with potential criminal and civil sanctions and remedies."
