AEGIS ANNOUNCES A NEW MEDICAL PROTOCOL
ALLOWING FOR EXTENDED TAKE HOME PRIVILEGES

Canoga Park, California – Udi Barkai, President and CEO, Aegis Medical Systems, Inc., is proud to announce the approval of a new medical protocol allowing for extended Take Home Privileges up to 15 days, beyond the previous limit of 6 days of Take Homes.  Following a twelve month transition period, Aegis will consider the extension of the privileges to 21 days, and thereafter up to 30 days.

Udi Barkai stated that, “The new protocol will support our patients’ change of lifestyles, and prepare them in their transition to a drug-free environment.”  He further stated, “The new protocol will allow patients to take a bigger role in their own recovery and have a better sense of entitlement and ownership, which is a critical element for their commitment.  Commitment is still considered the most significant component to a successful recovery.”

The Extended Take Home Privileges are now allowed by the California Alcohol and Drug Program, as a new provision under the California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title IX.  These changes are consistent with the nationwide trend toward bringing Replacement Therapy (a.k.a. methadone maintenance) into standards of “mainstream” medicine, granting the physician with the highest authority in the prescription of medications and other treatment services.
