AEGIS COLLABORATES WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
IN ESTABLISHING AN INTERNSHIP AGREEMENT
|
Canoga Park, California – Udi Barkai, President and C.E.O., is proud to announce the establishment of an Internship Agreement between Aegis Medical Systems, Inc., Aegis Institute, Inc., and the University of Southern California (“USC”). The new agreement is the most recent addition to previous similar agreements that were signed with other leading academic institutions, including California State University at Chico, Pepperdine and Antioch Universities.
By this agreement, USC social work graduate students who are seeking licensing through the California Board of Behavioral Sciences will be working in supervised Aegis clinics in West Los Angeles, Oxnard and Simi Valley.
Udi Barkai stated, “The assistance of social workers to our patients is critical to their successful recovery, especially as it relates to their relationship with the various community resources (e.g., DHS, DSS, CPS, EDD, etc.).” He further stated, “Unfortunately, California Title IX and Title XXII does not require, nor cover, any services outside the treatment center, which raises major challenges to NTP providers, as well as patients. The obstacles that patients face outside our clinics are severe and are caused by both their condition (e.g., clinical, socio-economical, etc.), as well as from discrimination against recovering addicts. Social work and other support outside the clinics are necessary to sustain the change of lifestyle and successful recovery of our patients.”
